President Barack Obama said: Suu Kyi represents a political opposition that “has been systematically silenced, incarcerated, and deprived of any opportunity to engage in political processes.”
” On November 13th Myanmar released Aung San Suu Kyi. However, the human rights situation remains grim. More than 2,200 political prisoners, many of them prisoners of conscience, continue to languish behind bars in Myanmar. Under Electoral Laws enacted in March, none of them can take part in the elections.”
